On flicking through my husbands Flex training mag the other day, I came across this article all about looking after your body when training it to the max.

This allows the toxins to be flushed from the area and fresh blood to be pumped back in, creating the best possible environment to recover" We do know this, but it's nice to see it talked about in training magazines.
