What is Thai massage?
It is the traditional massage of Thailand, and has been practiced for over 1000 years. It came to Thailand along with Buddhism and was originally practiced by Buddhist monks in their temples. The work consists primarily of pressure on energy lines and points, and a large variety of stretching movements. The stretches affect the entire body by increasing flexibility, releasing both deep and superficial tension, and helping the body's natural energy to flow more freely. The combination of energetic and physical aspects is what makes Thai Massage unique and so effective.
Traditional Thai massage is really a deep, full-body treatment, starting at the feet and progressing up to the head. Using a sequence of gentle, flowing exercise movements, the the body is moved, loosened and stretched, allowing greater movement of the joints and the muscles. This unique type of massage influences the energetic side as well, restoring the flow of energy throughout the body by applying acupressure on the sen energy lines of the body.
